The BSG-1u Base Station Access Gateway presents a next-generation solution for integrated cell site transport and management that combines innovative technology with carrier-grade reliability. Requiring only one unit (1u) of rack space in the BTS/Node B, the BSG-1u streamlines the transition to mobile data services by converging traffic from multiple generations of radio equipment and overlay networks -- and reduces backhaul costs in the process. The BSG-1u flexibly supports a range of configurations for 1G/2G TDM transport and emerging 3G/4G packet-based infrastructure, in direct relation to network growth and subscriber migration to more advanced services. A modular expansion slot enables quick interface customization to support additional T1/E1 ports, or T3, OC-3/STM-1, and Gigabit Ethernet-based broadband transmission. Additional cell site telemetry capabilities will enable remote monitoring and control of base station infrastructure, for improved operational efficiency and network visibility. The compact BSG-1u platform combines any service, any port circuit and packet transmission and traffic engineering capabilities with pay-as-you-grow interface modularity, for maximum transport flexibility and investment protection with minimum initial cost.
